Today is the one day of the year where we ask you to consider a donation to WNUR and the Folk Show. We have lots of great thank you gifts including concert tickets, CD’s, guest DJ slots and even some food this year. You can see all of the premiums right here. Just page down to the Folk Show section.
WNUR’s annual Phoneathon is the only time of the year we ask our listeners for their financial support. As an independent, commercial-free station this fundraiser is how we survive! A successful Phoneathon lets us keep our programming ad-free and will provide the resources to allow us to upgrade our equipment and to provide you with more consistent and robust show archives and special features.
If you wish to donate over the phone, call (847) 491-3655 during our show, and one of our operators will direct you through the process. You can also donate online, using Northwestern University’s secure donation system
You can donate all week by calling 847-491-3655, but why not call during our show between 10am-Noon today.
Thanks with love for your continued support.
Kathy, Sue and Ron
Ron Lewis hosts and we’ll have two guests on the show.
First off Naomi Ashley comes by around 10:45 to talk about her brand new CD “Trying to Fly”. Naomi’s CD release party is on Thursday October 3rd at FitzGeralds in Berwyn.
Then we’ll close the show with an interview we recorded last Tuesday (September 24th) with Meg Hutchinson. We’ll chat and play a couple of tunes from Meg’s new CD “Beyond That”. Meg plays an intimate almost sold-out show on Sunday September 29th at 7pm in the back recording studios at SPACE.
We’ll feature some other new music and our concert calendar too – Starting at 10am on 89.3FM and streaming at wnur.org and at tunein.com
As a result of a cancellation by Marianne Faithful due to a holiday accident, City Winery has added Dar Williams to their lineup on Sunday 9/22 at 8pm and we’re the official sponsor.
Listen to Ron Lewis tomorrow between 10-Noon for more information and tune in to Sue Kessell the following week on 9/15 for a chance to win a pair of tickets.
Ron mentioned on Sunday’s show that there were glitches with last February’s Phoneathon Fundraiser. If you know that your credit card was not charged, please consider clicking here to donate.
If you were charged but did not receive your premium, please email us here and we’ll handle as soon as possible.
Ron Lewis hosts our Mother’s Day Edition of the Show. We’ll have tickets for today’s 2pm Sally Rogers/Claudia Schmidt show at Space, as well as tickets for Balfa Toujours on 5/18 at the Old Town School.
Tune in at 10am today on 89.3FM and wnur.org.
We’ll be sharing memories of Chicago singer-songwriter James McCandless, who passed away last week. Ron Lewis will be joined at 10am by James’ friends Victor Sanders and Al Day and we’ll also talk by phone with Jim Craig
Join Sue Kessell starting at 10am. Sue’s guest will be Louise Mosrie
Reminder – starting this week, we’re only on until 11:30am, but today we get an extra 10 minute due to an NU sporting event starting at 11:40am 🙂
It’s Saint Patrick’s Day, so we’ll be playing plenty of Celtic music on the show, plus our Concert Calendar segment too. Ron Lewis hosts, starting at 10am.
We have a new email address where you can contact us. So that we don’t expose the address to spammers here, please go to our contact us page and send us a short note. We’ll email you back with our new address.
