This show originally aired on Sunday, July 12th shortly after we learned that Michael Smith was in hospice. Starting at about the 18-minute mark, we feature Michael who we are sad to report passed away on Monday August 3rd.
We start with Kathy Kelly’s contemporaneous thoughts about Michael along with some of his music. Then we dip into the archives and you’ll hear our last interview with Michael when Sue Kessell visited with him for over an hour in 2019.
We’re in the process of preparing a tribute show but due to our need to pre-record our program these days, an in-depth show likely won’t air until August 16th at the earliest. We’ll keep you posted.
We recorded a fresh show which is supposed to air at 10am this morning on WNUR (on 5/31 at 10am). However, as of 9:30am on Sunday, the stream and the radio signal are down. Therefore, here is today’s show.
Hour 1 features music and then in the 2nd half, Kathy Kelly joins us to catch up and you’ll hear a never-before heard visit she had with Connie Kaldor. Enjoy.
We visited last night with our pal Jenny Bienemann to talk about her Haiku-Milieu Collaboration Event coming up this Friday at 8pm. Learn all about it by listening below and join us by watching this Friday at 8pm right here. 🙂
Ron Lewis here. I recorded a fresh show on Saturday 4/18 and Sunday 4/19 for streaming first by our friends at This Is Hell on Sunday from 10am-Noon. If possible, we’ll record new freeform shows – “Breakfast with the Bagels” weekly for streaming from 7-9am on Saturdays and new Folk Shows for streaming on Sundays from 10am-Noon at thisishell.com. Just look for the right facing arrow at the top of the This Is Hell page just underneath the red bar at the top. The shows will then be available for streaming afterwards here at folk.wnur.org
